Electronic stability control, the technology that provides smoother vehicle handling and reduces skidding and sliding on the road, has been a recommended feature by car insurers and safety experts since it first became popular, but now it can also earn you an insurance discount卛f you live in Oklahoma.
Farmers Group, Inc. has begun offering residents of The Sooner State a discount on their insurance premiums just for having a car equipped with electronic stability control. As this is a feature commonly found on newer cars, and not available aftermarket, this is essentially a discount for having a modern vehicle.
According to Jeff Dailey, Farmers' president of personal lines, the discount is 5% off the collision portion of any Oklahoma auto policy.
Explains Dailey, "The discount is given on any Oklahoma automobile classified and rated as a private passenger automobile, and must be equipped with a factory-installed electronic stability control system as standard equipment."
It does not appear that policies must be new in order to qualify, but Oklahoma residents are encouraged to visit the Farmers website and check out the offer for themselves.
